Dream Cruise Roadshow 2017 | Broadcast

>>>AND WELCOME TO THE CORNER OF
NINE MILE IN WOODWARD, IN FERNDALE, MICHIGAN, U.S.A.,
OUR SITE OF THE LIVE COVERAGE OF THE DREAM CRUISE.
THIS IS THE DREAM CRUISE ROADSHOW, AND JOINING ME WITH
BOB LUTZ, EXPERT IN THIS TOWN, LOOKING AT LOTS OF CLASSIC CARS
AND CARS OF SPECIAL INTEREST, WE’VE SEEN LOTS SO FAR,
BUT LOTS MORE COMING UP. WE’RE EXCITED.
>>YEP, SEEN SOME VERY INTERESTING CARS, CARS I
HAVEN’T SEEN IN YEARS, AND SOME I’VE NEVER SEEN.
ALWAYS A PLEASURE.>>WELL LETS GO TO
THE FIRST CAR. A 1957 CHEVROLET CORVETTE.
OWNED BY DAVID RUBY.>>IT’S CALLED A [INAUDIBLE].
A 283 CUBIC INCH CHEVROLET ENGINE, AND RATED AT
283 HORSEPOWER, AND NONTURBO CHARGED FORM.
IT’S EXTREMELY GET TO GET ONE HORSEPOWER PER CUBIC INCH.
DETROIT WAS A BIT LAVISH IN THE WAY IT CALCULATED
HORSEPOWER IN THOSE DAYS. EVEN THOUGH THIS WAS ADVERTISED
AT 283 HORSEPOWER, THE ACTUAL HORSEPOWER IF WE WERE TO
MEASURE IT, PROBABLY ABOUT 185. STILL FOR ITS DAY, A
TREMENDOUSLY FAST CAR. AND IT WAS THE STILL THE
UNMODIFIED BODY OF THE FIRST GENERATION CORVETTE, PURE,
SIMPLE, YOU KNOW BEFORE THEY ME FIND IT UP WITH QUAD
HEADLIGHTS AND EVERYTHING. THIS IS A STUNINGLY
BEAUTIFUL CAR. ORIGINAL WHEELS, WHITE WALLS
WHICH I DON’T NECESSARILY APPROVED OF ON A SPORTS CAR, BUT
A LOT OF PEOPLE ORDER IT HAD CORVETTES WITH — ORDERED
THE CORVETTES BACK THEN. THIS CAR IS TOTALLY
ORIGINAL AND PERFECT. WITH THE RIGHT ENGINE.
THIS ONE GLADDENS MY HEART.>>AND AS YOU MENTIONED
TO THE WHITE WALLS, IF THEY ORDERED THEM —
>>ABSOLUTELY. THAT’S THE WAY THEY WERE.
TO BE HONEST IF I HAD THE CAR, I WOULD PUT BLACK TIRES
ON IT, MOST DID, BUT NO, THIS WAS A LEGITIMATE OPTION
BACK IN THOSE DAYS. AND PEOPLE ORDERED THEM.
>>LET’S LEARN MORE FROM THE OWNER, DAVID RUBY IN THE
STREET WITH ERIC GORGES, THE 1957 CHEVY CORVETTE.
>>HEY MAN, HOW ARE YOU?>>GOOD, GOOD.
>>BEAUTIFUL CAR HERE.>>THANK YOU, I
DIDN’T MAKE IT THOUGH. CHEVROLET MADE THIS,
I’M JUST THE CARETAKER.>>WHAT YEAR?
>>1957.>>HOW LONG HAVE YOU OWNED IT?
>>19 YEARS.>>WHAT KIND OF CONDITION?
>>IT WAS PAINTED AND I NEEDED REAR END AND CLUTCH AND
GENERATOR, AND STARTER.>>NEEDED QUITE A BIT OF WORK.
>>THE GAS LINES WERE LEAKING, BUT IT WAS PAINTED.
>>IT LOOKED GOOD BUT NEEDED A LOT OF WORK.
>>YES.>>WHAT’S YOUR FAVORITE
THING ABOUT THIS CAR.>>HARD TO SAY.
>>TOP FIVE. TOP THREE.
>>TWO YEARS AGO A GUY FROM GM WAS TAKING PHOTOGRAPHS AND SAID
HE HATED THIS CAR, ALL GM CARS HE COULD TAKE TEN MINUTES OF
TAKING PICTURES AND TOOK HIM AN HOUR AND A HALF TO
PHOTOGRAPH THIS CAR. THERE ARE NO BAD
LINES, I LOVE IT. FIRST OFF, IT HAS TO
BE SINGLE HEADLIGHTS.>>IT IS A WONDERFUL CAR.
MY FAVORITE FEATURE IS THE GRILL.
IT’S SO OUT THIS.>>IT IS, AND THE WHOLE CAR
SPEAKS TO YOU, WHEN YOU’RE LOOKING AT IT, FROM THE SIDE,
THERE ARE NO BAD ANGLES.>>WAS THIS A FACTORY COLOR?
>>FACTORY COLOR, VENETIAN RED, AND MY WIFE SAYS IT’S ORANGE.
AND SHE FINDS OUT THERE’S ONLY 400 AVAILABLE, SO I
DON’T MIND THAT NOW.>>SHE LIKES IT NOW.
BEAUTIFUL. MAN, HAVE A GREAT CRUISE BUDDY.
>>THANK YOU.>>THANKS FOR COMING OUT.
FRED, LET’S SEE WHAT’S NEXT, MAN.
>>THANK YOU, THAT WAS A ’57 CHEVY CORVETTE.
>>I DIDN’T KNOW THAT WAS OFFERED BACK THEN.
>>INTERESTING THAT GO THROUGH THE CARS TALKING ABOUT,
THE CONVERTIBLE TOP OR THIS FUEL INJECTION.
THAT MADE IT SPECIAL AS WELL.>>EARLY ROCHESTER
FUEL INJECTION. YOU COULD LEGITIMATELY CLAIM
THAT THAT CORVETTE PLUS THE MERCEDES GULL WING WERE THE
ON ME FUEL INJECTED CARS ON THE MARKET BACK THEN.
>>OF THAT ERA. AND THAT TOOK OFF?
>>WELL, IT WAS MORE SPECHS AT FIRST, AND — EXPENSIVE AT
FIRST, AND THEY WERE DELICATE. BUT THEY VERY QUICKLY BECAME FAR
MORE RELIABLE THAN CARBURETORS, AND NOW YOU CAN’T MEET FUEL
ECONOMY AND REGULATIONS WITH A CARBURETOR ANYMORE.
>>WE’RE PROVIDING LIVE COVERAGE FROM NINE MILE, HERE IN DOWNTOWN
FERNDALE, DPTV, AND LIVE, WITH OUR EXPERTS, BOB LUTZ, TALKING
ABOUT THE CARS, THE CLASSICS AND THOSE OF SPECIAL INTEREST,
CERTAINLY THAT ’57 CORVETTE QUALIFIES AS THAT.
>>WE HAVE ANOTHER GREAT CORVETTE COMING UP.
>>IT’S THE CORVETTE ALLEY HERE.>>THIS WAS A C 2, THE
SECOND GENERATION OF THE CORVETTE BODIES.
THIS WAS THE ORIGINAL STINGRAY, AGAIN, BEAUTIFUL ORIGINAL CAR.
LOOK AT THE ORIGINAL WHEELS AND IT’S A 427 WHICH WAS THE
TOP ENGINE OPTION, THAT’S SEVEN LITERS OF POWER.
LOOK AT THE GORGEOUS INTERIOR. THOSE ARE INTERIORS THAT WE
SOMETIMES HAVE TROUBLE DOING INTERIORS THAT GOOD TODAY.
THE FABULOUS CAR, VERY POWERFUL. AND THIS ONE WAS HAD
SOME OPTIONS, IT HAD NO HEATER OR RADIO, IT WAS
DESIGNED TO COMPETE IN PRODUCTION DRAG RACING.
BUT LOOK AT THE BEAUTIFUL TAPERED BACK END.
FOR CORVETTE LOVERS, I THINK WE WOULD ALL AGREE THAT THESE 60S,
’64 TO ’69 STINGRAYS WITH THE TAPERING BACK ON, IT’S
EVERYBODY’S FAVORITE. GLORIOUS CAR.
>>THE REAR FUEL TANK.>>WELL, THERE’S A FUEL
TANK BACK THERE, AND THAT’S HOW YOU ACCESS IT.
BUT LOOK AT THE DRIVER ORIENTED INSTRUMENTATION.
THE STEERING WHEEL IS TOO THIN, BUT THE INSTRUMENTATION IS
RIGHT IN FRONT OF THE DRIVER. YOU CAN’T DO IT ANY
BETTER THAN THAT.>>MORE FROM THE
OWNER, NICK HAMMER. OVER TO YOU.
>>HOW YOU DOING?>>HELLO.
>>THANKS FOR COMING OUT.>>GLAD TO BE HERE.
>>WHAT HAVE YOU GOT?>>1966 CHEVROLET
COUPE BIG BLOCK.>>BEAUTIFUL, HOW LONG
HAVE YOU OWNED IT?>>EIGHT MONTHS.
>>SO IT’S RELATIVELY NEW.>>NEW TO ME.
>>DID IT TAKE A LONG TIME TO FIND IT.
>>I’M ALWAYS LOOKING, WHEN YOU FIND THE RIGHT CAR, YOU
HAVE TO PULL THE TRIGGER. GET WHAT YOU WANT.
>>WHAT’S SPECIAL ABOUT THIS CAR?
>>IT WAS ORDERED AS A RACECAR ORIGINALLY, AND
WITHOUT A HEATER AND RADIO. IT WAS A RACECAR FROM DAY
ONE. CAME FROM CALIFORNIA. I HAVE OWNERSHIP HISTORY
FROM DAY ONE ON THE CAR. IN RACE TRIM ON THE TRACK
AND ALL THAT GOOD STUFF.>>VERY COOL.
YOU KNOW HOW MANY THEY MADE THAT WERE TRACK READY?
>>54 WITH THE HEATER DELETE.>>WOW.
>>THE L 72 ENGINE THEY MADE ABOUT I THINK ABOUT 5,000.
>>RIGHT ON, MAN. THIS IS A BEAUTIFUL CAR HERE,
MAN, THIS IS GREAT. I LOVE THE LINES OF THIS CAR.
>>IT’S MY FAVORITE.>>STINGRAY.
THANK YOU VERY MUCH FOR COMING OUT, ENJOY THE CRUISE.
>>THANK YOU.>>LET’S SEE WHAT’S
GOING ON NEXT, MAN.>>>THAT WAS A BEAUTIFUL CAR YOU
TALKED ABOUT FOCUSING ON THE INTERIOR, AND SAID WE COULDN’T
DO THE INTERIORS LIKE THAT.>>WE CAN, BUT FOR A
WHILE WE LOST IT. THE INTERIOR WAS AN EASY PLACE
TO TAKE COST OUT OF IT. WHEN YOU REPLACE CHROME
DIALS WITH PLASTIC, YOU’RE SAVING MONEY.
YOU REPLACE CHROME PLATED ROCKER SWITCHES WITH
PLASTIC YOU SAVE MONEY. SO FINALLY YOU SAVE SO
MUCH MONEY, THE CUSTOMER DOESN’T BUY IT ANYMORE.
THAT’S A VERY LOVELY SPORTS CAR AND A LOVELY INTERIOR,
AND IT SOUNDS GREAT.>>118 MILES PER
HOUR IN STOCK FORM. DOES THAT SOUND RIGHT TO YOU?
>>YEAH, ABSOLUTELY. IF IT’S A QUARTER MILE IN
11.8, AT 118 TERMINAL SPEED, BY TODAY’S STANDARD
THAT’S A GOOD TIME.>>>AND LET’S GO TO
THE NEXT ONE. NEIL SHADDOX THE 1964
CUSTOM VW.>>YES. I WOULD SAY WORDS FAIL ME,
OR IT CAME FROM OUTER SPACE. AND IF WE WERE WATCHING A
SCIENCE FICTION MOVIE I THINK THE FEDS WOULD BE SENDING
THE ARMY NOW TO KILL IT BEFORE IT MULTIPLIED.
A STRANGE CONCOCTION AS NO MANUFACTURER WOULD CLAIM
RESPONSIBILITY FOR THIS. AND IT’S DEFINITIVELY
LIFE IN A FISH BOWL WHEN YOU’RE IN THIS THING.
HIGHLY UNUSUAL, BUT FUN. CARS ARE TO HAVE FUN
WITH, AND THIS ONE IS UNQUESTIONABLY TO HAVE FUN.
>>NO QUESTION ABOUT THAT. LOOK FORWARD TO TO
MEETING THE OWNER OF THIS BEAUTIFUL, ABUSE CAR.
ERIC OVER TO YOU.>>HEY MAN, HOW ARE YOU?
>>PRETTY GOOD.>>THIS THING IS CRAZY COOL.
>>THANKS IT WAS A LOT OF WORK.>>I BET.
LOOKS LIKE YOU GOT A VW ON THE FRONT HERE?
>>MOSTLY A ’64, WELL, 10, 15% OF VOLKSWAGEN BEETLE, AND THE
REST WAS FABRICATED MYSELF.>>THIS IS WONDERFUL.
WHERE DID THE INSPIRATION COME FROM?
>>YOU KNOW ED ROTH? A BIG CAR AND CUSTOMIZER
IN THE 60S, HE DID A LOT OF BUBBLE TOP CARS LIKE THIS.
AND ALWAYS THOUGHT THEY WERE COOL LOOKING, AND WANTED TO
DRIVE ONE, BUT NEVER WOULD HAVE THE OPPORTUNITY
UNLESS I MADE ONE.>>WHAT WAS THE HARDEST
THING ABOUT MAKING IT?>>I GOT A COUPLE OF SCARS FROM
IT, AND TRYING TO FIGURE OUT HOW THE SHAPE THE SHEET METAL.
IT’S NOT MY TRADE, IT WAS A LEARNING PROCESS.
>>YOU DID A GREAT JOB. WHERE DID THE BUBBLE COME FROM?
>>THERE’S A PLASTIC SHOT LOCALLY IN DETROIT, CALLED
STELLAR PLASTICS, I TOOK THEM THE RING AND THEY
BLEW THE BUBBLE FOR ME.>>VERY NICE.
WHAT’S IT LIKE DRIVING?>>IT’S AN OVEN.
IT’S SO HOT. BUT IT’S FUN.
>>SUPER COOL, THANK YOU SO MUCH FOR COMING OUT.
ENJOY THE CRUISE.>>THANK YOU.
>>WHAT’S NEXT MAN?>>LOTS OF CLASSIC CARS AND
THOSE OF SPECIAL INTEREST. THE LIVE COVERAGE OF THE
DREAM CRUISE ROADSHOW ON DETROIT PUBLIC TV.
THERE’S CARS ALL AROUND THE DETROIT METRO AREA.
A WAY TO GET IN TOUCH WITH THE CULTURE AND THE DESIGN ELEMENTS
THAT ARE UNIQUELY DETROIT. YOU’RE WATCHING DREAM CRUISE
ROAD SHOW ON DETROIT PUBLIC TV.>>>AFTER A GREAT
CONVERSATION WITH JOHN, HE CUT US LOOSE TO ROAM THIS
RIDICULOUSLY COOL COLLECTION. AND WE PICKED OUT OUR FAVORITES.
MINE WAS THE LAVISH 1931 LE GRANDE SPEEDSTER.
JIM HAD HIS EYE ON THE [INAUDIBLE].
IT DIDN’T DO THAT MUCH FOR ME. AS FOR ERIC, HIS DREAM RIDE WAS
THE 1912 ROLLS ROYCE SILVER GHOST.
YOU CAN SEE HIM DREAMING ABOUT IT RIGHT NOW.
ERIC? ERIC? ERIC. THIS INCREDIBLE COLLECTION IS A
TRUE AND INSPIRING AMERICAN TREASURE, THAT’S RIGHT HERE
IN OUR OWN BACK YARD. AND THERE’S SO MUCH TO SEE THAT
YOU’LL MOST LIKELY PLAN YOUR RETURN BEFORE YOU LEAVE.
SO STOP BY STALL’S, AND SPEND QUALITY TIME LOOKING BACK
AT THE THINGS THAT MOVE FORWARD EVERY DAY.
>>>AND YOU’RE WATCHING OUR LIVE COVERAGE OF THE WOODWARD
DREAM CRUISE ROADSHOW. I’M FRED NAHHAT AND THIS IS
HAPPENING ALL AT THE CORNER OF NINE MILE AND WOODWARD AUBURN
HILLS IN BEAUTIFUL DOWNTOWN FERNDALE, CAPTURING THE
SIGHTINGS AND SOUNDS OF THIS STORIED MOTOR CITY EVENT.
I’M JOINED LIVE WITH BOB LUTZ AND ANOTHER CAR OF SPECIAL
INTEREST COMING UP. THE OWNER CAROL DEBEAUSSAERT.
THE 1976 AM MADISON COUPE.>>THIS ONE IS
INTERESTING, THE COUPE. IT WAS A BOLD EFFORTS AND IT’S
UNUSUAL AND IT STANDS OUT. BUT IF YOU LOOK AT IT, A LOT OF
THE LINES ON THE BODY JUST DON’T PLAY WELL AND THE WHOLE CAR WHEN
YOU SEE IT SITTING ON THE WHEELS, LOOKS OVERBODIED, THE
WHEELS ARE TOO FAR IN BOARD AND IT WASN’T A SUCCESSFUL DESIGN.
A GUY WHO MADE HIS LIVING IN THE CAR BUSINESS, I CAN SEE
WHY THIS CAR DIDN’T SELL. HOWEVER, LOOK AT
THE PLAYED UPHOLSTERY. IT’S AN INTERESTING LOOKING
CAR. MORE VALUABLE AS A COLLECTOR CAR THAN A NEW CAR.
I CAN SEE WHERE THE FASCINATION COMES FROM.
IT’S QUIRKY AND UNUSUAL.>>THE INTERIOR
STYLING IS INTERESTING. LOOKS LIKE A VINYL ACCENT
TOPPED WITH THE CHROME MODEL. CAROL DEBEAUSSAERT AGAIN, 1976
AMERICAN MOTORS MATADOR COUPE. AN OVERREPRESENTATION OF AMC.
>>AS I SAID EARLIER, THEY HAVE 8% MARKET SHARE AT THIS SHOW.
SOMEBODY ON THE CAR SELECTION COMMITTEE LIKES THE AMC,
OR LIKE CAROL DEBEAUSSAERT.>>LET’S LEARN MORE OF
CAROL DEBEAUSSAERT AND HER FASCINATION WITH THE AMC.
THE MATADOR COUPE WITH ERIC GORGES, OVER TO YOU.
>>HI AGAIN.>>HI.
>>HOW ARE YOU?>>FANCY MEETING YOU HERE.
>>I KNOW, RIGHT? I HAVEN’T LEFT ALL NIGHT.
YOU HAVE SUCH A GREAT COLLECTION OF AMC CARS.
>>THEY’RE STILL CHEAP TO BUY.>>I THINK THEY’RE FUN.
THEY’RE ECLECTIC.>>YES.
>>TELL US ABOUT THIS ONE.>>ANOTHER AMERICAN MOTORS, THE
NUMBER FOUR OF THE BIG THREE. IT’S ALL ORIGINAL —
>>THIS IS THE MATADOR.>>THE MATADOR COUPE.
THEY HAD A WAGON AND A FOUR DOOR.
BUT THIS IS THE COUPE. ALL ORIGINAL, NOT BEEN TOUCHED.
>>REALLY?>>YES.
>>YOU FOUND IT THIS WAY?>>YES, I DID.
E-BAY IMPULSE BUY.>>E-BAY WILL GET YOU.
>>SOMEONE WILL BID OVER ME, BUT NOBODY DID.
>>HOW LONG HAVE YOU HAD IT?>>FIVE YEARS.
>>DRIVE IT MUCH?>>ALL THE TIME.
THEY ALL GET THEIR WORKOUT, I HAVE FUN.
>>WHAT’S SPECIAL ABOUT THAT ONE?
>>OTHER THAN IT’S ALL ORIGINAL, IT HAS THE BEST INTERIOR.
>>SUPER COOL.>>I LOVE IT.
>>AND THE SOUTHWESTERN FEEL TO IT.
WHAT ELSE ABOUT THIS CAR DO YOU LIKE?
HOW DOES IT HANDLE?>>OH, LIKE A BOAT.
>>NOT A GOOD THING WITH CARS.>>I LOVE IT, I THINK IT’S
VERY ELEGANT AND IT RIDES VERY SMOOTH AND VERY —
>>IT’S A FUN [INAUDIBLE].>>IT’S BEAUTIFUL, I LOVE IT.
>>JUST ROLLING.>>IF YOU COULD GO OUT AND DRINK
AND HAVE A BEER AND CHILL.>>I DON’T THINK THE COPS WOULD
THINK THAT’S GOOD, THIS IS GREAT I LOVE YOUR COLLECTION.
>>THANK YOU VERY MUCH.>>THIS IS A SPECIAL ONE.
>>THANK YOU.>>I HOPE I SEE YOU AGAIN SOON.
>>COME ON [INAUDIBLE].>>ALL RIGHT, THANK YOU,
HAVE A GREAT NIGHT. FRED WHAT’S GOING ON NEXT?
>>THANK YOU, THAT WAS ’76 AMC MATADOR COUPE.
>>AND SHE HAS A TEE SHIRT.>>>A BIT OF A DESIGNER
[INAUDIBLE] IN THE SENSE, WHAT DOESN’T MEET UP RIGHT WHEN
YOU’RE DOING THEM IN CLAY?>>IT’S GOT SOME ODD SURFACES
IN THAT THERE’S ALMOST NO CURVED SURFACES.
THIS IS THE A FLAT SURFACE ON THE TOP OF THE BODY SIDE AND
ANOTHER FLAT SURFACE ON THE BOTTOM OF THE BODY SIDE
AND WHERE THE TWO MEET, THIS IS THE A MOLDING.
THE OVERALL CHARACTER OF THE CAR IS SOMEWHAT ROUNDISH.
AND THE FLAT MANES, BUT IT — PLANES, BUT IT LOOKS OVERBODIED,
THE BODY IS TOO WIDE FOR THE CHASSIS, AND THE WHEELS ARE
TUCKED IN, AND IN PERCEPTION THAT GIVES THE VIEWER A
SENSE IT CAN’T BE STABLE. IT LOOKS NARROW AND DANGEROUS.
JUST ONE OF THOSE PSYCHOLOGY THINGS.
IF IT LOOKS UNSTABLE, PEOPLE DON’T BUY IT.
>>>WE’RE CONTINUING WITH THE LIVE COVERAGE OF THE
WOODWARD AVENUE DREAM CRUISE. WITH BOB LUTZ AND ERIC GORGES,
GETTING A CLOSER LOOK, AND THE NEXT CAR COMING UP LOOKS LIKE
THE 1967 DODGE CORONET.>>YEAH, THE MOST UNUSUAL
FEATURE OF THIS CAR WITH — IT’S APPEAR RNT — AN RNT, BUT
NOT AN ULTIMATE DRAG SPECIAL. THE NICE THING OF THIS CAR, THE
UNUSUAL THING IS IT’S POINTED IN SOMETHING CALLED TURBINE BRONZE.
THAT WAS A COLOR ORIGINALLY RESERVED FOR THE LIMIT VOLUME OF
[INAUDIBLE] CHRYSLER BUILT. APPARENT, THIS IS ONE
OF TWO OF NONTURBINE CARS PAINTED IN TURBINE BRONZE.
IT’S RARE AND VALUABLE JUST FROM A COLOR AND PRINT STEP POINT.
>>IT LOOKS LIKE THE COLOR SOMETHING YOU FIND ON THE
PERIODIC CHART OF THE ELEMENTS. LET’S GET A CLOSER LOOK AND TALK
TO THE OWNER, DON PLESTER. OF THE ’67 DODGE CORONET.
WITH ERIC GORGES.>>HOW YOU DOING?
>>GOOD.>>THANKS FOR COMING OUT.
>>THANKS FOR HAVING US.>>WHAT HAVE YOU GOT HERE.
>>A 1967 CORONET RT.>>IT’S THE RANDY
TRAVIS EDITION.>>NOT REALLY.
THAT ONE, NO. IT’S ROAD AND TRACK.
TELL ME ABOUT IT, HOW LONG HAVE YOU HAD IT?
>>WE’VE HAD IT FOUR YEARS AND THE FIRST YEAR FOR THE RT
MODEL. IT’S EXTREMELY RARE. BEEN WORKING ON IT FOR
THE LAST THREE YEARS. FINALLY GETTING IT TO THIS
PLACE WHERE IT’S AT NOW.>>WHAT KIND OF
CONDITION WAS IT IN?>>BODY AND PAINT WAS
DONE WHEN I GOT IT, BUT MECHANICAL NEEDED WORK.
PULLED THE ORIGINAL ENGINE OUT AND SAVED THAT.
IT GOES WITH THE CAR. AND THEN WE —
>>WHAT DID YOU PUT IN IT?>>A 493 STROKER, WELL
OVER 600 HORSEPOWER.>>BEAUTIFUL CAR.
>>IT’S VERY FUN.>>THANKS FOR COMING OUT,
ENJOY THE CRUISE. NICE MEETING YOU BOTH.
ALL RIGHT, FRED, LET’S SEE WHAT’S GOING ON, MAN.
>>THE ’67 DODGE CORONET RT, AND YOU FOCUS A LOT OF
TIMES ON THE WHEELS.>>I HAVE A PHOBIA WITH OLD
CARS WITH MODERN WHEELS. BUT THIS CAR HAS STEEL ROAD
WHEELS SUPPLIED BY DODGE. THEY’RE FIVE SPOKED WHEELS
WITH A LOT OF DEFINITION. IT’S A COOL LOOKING WHEEL.
ANOTHER UNUSUAL DESIGN FEATURE OF THE CAR, IT’S GOT CONCEALED
TAILLIGHTS, WHEN THEY’RE OFF, ALL YOU SEE IS CHROME STRIPS.
IT’S INTERESTING THAT NOW WE TRY TO EMPHASIZE THE IMPORTANCE
OF TAILLIGHTS, AND THAT THEY ACTUALLY HID THEM.
>>WELL, WE ARE CONTINUING OUR LIVE COVERAGE WITH
BOB LUTZ, FRED NAHHAT, AND NEXT UP, JOHN BERZSENYI.
1968 PONTIAC FIREBIRD 400.>>THIS ONE IS GORGEOUS.
STARTINGS WITH THE METALLIC PLUM COLOR, THIS WAS THE
FIRST GENERATION OF CAMARO AND A FIREBIRD BODIES.
THEY WERE VERY SIMILAR. HAD SOME COSMETIC DIFFERENCES,
BUT FUNDAMENTALLY THE BASIC BODY SHAPE WAS THE SAME.
MANY PEOPLE TO THIS DAY SAY THAT UP UNTIL THE LATEST CAMAROS,
THESE WERE THE NICEST. WHEN I WAS WORKING FOR GM
FRANCE, IN THE LATE 60S, I HAD ONE OF THESE, A FIREBIRD 400
CONVERTIBLE AS A COMPANY CAR. I WAS QUITE THE MAN AROUND
PARIS, I TELL YOU. OKAY THE HANDLING WASN’T GREAT.
THE CHASSIS WASN’T GREAT, BUT LOOK AT THE DRAMA.
YOU GET A PURPLE CAR. [INAUDIBLE].
>>HOW ARE YOU?>>GOOD.
>>THANKS FOR COMING OUTLET, WHAT A — OUT,
WHAT A BEAUTIFUL CAR.>>THANK YOU.
>>WHAT YEAR?>>68 FIREBIRD 400 CONVERTIBLE.
WE’VE OWNED IT SINCE 2004. BEEN DRIVING IT AFTER TWO YEARS.
>>TWO YEARS, THAT’S AWESOME. DID YOU DO A LOT
OF THE WORK YOURSELF?>>SOME OF THE MECHANICAL I
HIRED A LOT OF IT OUT. HE DID A FABULOUS JOB.
>>HOW DOES IT RUN?>>REAL GOOD.
YOU WANT KNOW SHOW YOU?>>YEAH, FOR SURE.
WHAT DO YOU LIKE ABOUT THIS CAR?>>MY VERY FIRST
CAR WAS A 68 FIREBIRD. MY DAD OWNED IT, AND SOLD IT TO
ME ON MY 16TH BIRTHDAY, I PROCEEDED TO DESTROY IT.
THE HORN BUTTON AND THE FENDER EMBLEMS IS FROM MY VERY FIRST
CAR, SO I PUT THEM ON THIS ONE.>>ENJOY THE CRUISE, THANK YOU
VERY MUCH FOR COMING OUT. HAVE A GREAT NIGHT.
FRED, LET’S SEE WHAT’S NEXT, MAN.
>>FIRST OF ALL, THE COMPLIMENT OF COLOR OPTIONS FOR THIS CAR,
THE PLUM IS AMAZING.>>YOU CAN GET WILD COLORS IN
THOSE DAYS, BUT IT’S AWE THEY WANTIC.
IT HAS — AUTHENTIC, IT HAS THE HOOD SCOOP.
THE TACHOMETER WAS ON THE HOOD. NOTICE THE WHITE LETTERED TIRES.
AND THAT’S A PONTIAC SPECIAL TIRES WERE BLACK WALLED BUT
THE MANUFACTURER’S NAME WAS SPELLED OUT IN WHITE LETTERS.
>>AND INTERESTING IS THE INTERIOR.
A TWO TONED INTERIOR WITH THE LEATHER UPHOLSTERY.
WITH THE MIDDLE STORAGE AREA AND ALL WHITE IN THE SEATING AREA.
>>FROM THE DESIGN STANDPOINT, THEY WERE TERRIFIC.
IF YOU LOOKED AT A PONTIAC FIREBIRD BACK IN THOSE
DAYS, THE WAY THEY CAME UP THE ASSEMBLY LINE, BAD
PAYMENT, THEY WERE SLOPPY.>>>NOW A FORD, A 1963 FORD
FALCON OPENED BY TOM MERAY.>>GOING FROM SOMETHING
SUBLIME TO SOMETHING BASIC. THE FORD FALCON WAS THE
SMALLEST FORD YOU COULD BUY WITH A SIMPLE CHASSIS.
THERE WAS NO V 8 AVAILABLE. THE WHEELS ARE
QUESTIONABLE. BUT IT’S A — IT’S VERY VERY NICE.
ACTUALLY I LIKE THE PICTURE OF THE CAR THAT WE GOT IN THE
DOCUMENTATION BETTER. IT HAS THE ORIGINAL YELLOW
WHEELS WITH THE CHROME HUB CAPS. LOOKS LIKE THE
OWNER WENT MODERN.>>LET’S HEAR FROM TOM.
ERIC, OVER TO YOU.>>HEY, HOW YOU DOING?
>>HOW YOU DOING?>>I’M WELL, GOOD TO MEET YOU.
WHAT HAVE YOU GOT HERE?>>’63 FALCON.
>>HOW LONG YOU OWNED IT?>>SINCE MAY OF 2013.
>>WHAT DO YOU LIKE ABOUT IT?>>I WAS LOOKING FOR
A SMALLER CAR AND CONVERTIBLE AND AUTOMATIC.
THIS WAS THE FIRST CAR AS A KID I REMEMBER SAYING I
THOUGHT IT WAS A COOL CAR, AND I WANTED TO GET ONE.
>>IT’S A GREAT LOOKING CAR. HOW DO YOU LIKE DRIVING IT?
>>BEAUTIFUL, I PUT 15 INCH TIRES ON IT THIS YEAR, AND IT
CHANGES THE HANDLING OF THE CAR. GREAT CRUISER.
WHEN YOU SEE IT ON THE ROAD, NO ONE KNOWS WHAT MOTOR YOU’VE GOT.
>>HOW MUCH WORK DID YOU DO TO IT?
>>NEW BUMPERS ON IT, NEW UPHOLSTERY, AND CHROME PIECES.
REBUILT THE REAR END AND JUST HAD THE MOTOR REBUILT LAST YEAR.
SO IT’S READY TO GO ANYWHERE.>>A BEAUTIFUL CAR.
>>I WOULDN’T HESITATE TO TAKE IT TO CALIFORNIA.
>>ENJOY THE CRUISE THIS WEEKEND.
>>THANK YOU, HI MOM.>>THANKS FOR COMING
OUT, MOM. THANK YOU. FRED, WHAT’S GOING ON NEXT, MAN.
>>>ALL RIGHT, MUCH MORE TO COME ON DREAM CRUISE ROADSHOW,
AND A QUICK LOOK, THE DESIGN LINE IS STRAIGHT
ON THAT. INCREDIBLE, KIND OF VIEW ON THAT.
>>SOMEWHAT LINEAR, BUT HENRY FORD II WAS FOND OF THAT.
WHEN HE WAS IN STYLING HE WOULD SAY HE WANTED A
WATER LINE BELT LINE. YOU SAW A LOT OF LATER BIG
FORDS AND MERCURIES, AND LINCOLNS GOT VERY LINEAR.
>>NOT AN ELVIS FAN.>>AN INTERESTING ONE HERE.
>>MUCH MORE TO COME HERE, YOU’RE WATCHING THE DREAM
CRUISE ROADSHOW, DPTV DETROIT PUBLIC TV.>>>YOU’RE WATCHING THE LIVE
COVERAGE OF THE DREAM CRUISE, CORNER OF NINE MILE AND WOODWARD
IN BEAUTIFUL DOWNTOWN FERNDALE, MICHIGAN U.S.A.
THE CRADLE OF THE DREAM CRUISE EVENT THAT’S GROWN UP OVER TIME
OVER THE LAST 20 YEARS OR SO WITH HUMBLE BEGINNINGS, AND NOW
THE PLACE TO BE FOR EACH AUGUST, FOR CLASSIC CARS AND CARS OF
SPECIAL INTEREST GROUPS. SPEAKING OF WHICH, FRED NAHHAT
HERE ALONGSIDE BOB LUTZ, NICE TO HAVE YOU WITH US.
NEXT UP IS FROM ASGHAR AFSARI, THE OWNER OF THE
’64 MERCEDES BENZ SL.>>THIS MORE ESTABLISHED
THE MERCEDES REPUTATION IN THE UNITED STATES.
LOOK HOW OLD THIS CAR IS, IT’S CLASSICALLY ELEGANT.
LOOK AT THE QUALITY OF THE INTERIOR, AND THE
GOOD USE OF MATERIALS. EVERYTHING LOOKS AUTHENTIC.
CARPET LOOKS EXPENSIVE, LEATHER LOOKS EXPENSIVE,
A BEAUTIFULLY DONE CAR. THIS IS THE MODEL KNOWN
AS THE PAGODA ROOF MODEL. IT WAS LOWER IN THE CENTER THAN
IT WAS IN THE RIGHT AND LEFT SIDE, THAT WAS INTELLIGENT
BECAUSE YOU PROVIDED MORE HEAD ROOM FOR THE
DRIVER AND PASSENGER. THESE ARE THE AUTHENTIC
MERCEDES BENZ PERIOD WHEELS. BE A SHAME TO
PUT ANYTHING ELSE ON. THIS IS A VERY AUTHENTIC
BEAUTIFULLY RESTORED CAR AND REMEMBER MY COMMENTS
OF THE MATADOR OF THE WHEELS BEING TOO FAR IN.
MERCEDES DIDN’T HAVE THAT PROBLEM.
THE WHEELS ARE AT THE CORNER OF THE CAR, THAT GIVES A
STABLE BEEFY APPEARANCE.>>LET’S LEARN MORE ABOUT IT
ERIC, OVER TO YOU.>>HOW YOU DOING?
>>I’M GOOD, HOW ARE YOU?>>I’M WELL.
THANKS FOR COMING OUT. WHAT DID YOU BRING US?
>>I BROUGHT YOU A 1964 MERCEDES SL.
>>FIRST ONE OF THE EVENING.>>YES, AND IT PERFORMS VERY
WELL, AND GREAT CAR TO DRIVE, AND BRAKES ARE WORKING ON THE
ROAD, LIKE TODAY IN WOODWARD. SOMEONE SAYS, THE LOOK IS GOOD
IF THE BRAKES WORK THEN YOU’RE TALKING ABOUT A REAL CAR.
>>HOW LONG HAVE YOU HAD IT?>>I PURCHASED IT IN 1989.
>>WOW.>>RIGHT.
IT’S INTERESTING, THAT THE YEAR OF THE ’64 WAS THE YEAR I
GRADUATED FROM MY SCHOOL. SO IN ’89 MAYBE I DESERVE A
TROPHY WHERE I FINISH MY WORK.>>GOOD FOR YOU.
>>AND I ACCEPTED IT TO A SHOP AND — SEND IT TO A SHOP
AND IT TOOK A COUPLE OF YEARS TO REDO IT.
AND PUT THE COLOR AND INTERIOR, AND REASSEMBLED THE OWN THING.
THIS IS ABOUT 21 YEARS AGO.>>REALLY?
IT LOOKS BEAUTIFUL.>>IT LOOKS GOOD.
>>GREAT SHAPE.>>I BELIEVE THE PERSON WHO DID
IT WAS REALLY A GOOD CRAFTSMAN.>>YOU DRIVE IT OFTEN?
>>I DO IN THE SUMMER ONLY, AND THE WEATHER TO BE GOOD.
HIKE TODAY. WHICH WE’RE — LIKE TODAY, BUT
OVERALL, YES, I DO DRIVE IT IN AN AREA OF 1,000 TO 1,200 MILES
JIESHG WONDERFUL, THANK YOU. HAVE A GREAT CRUISE.
ALL RIGHT FRED.>>WHAT’S STRIKING TO ME OF THE
CAR IS IT LOOKS SO SIMILAR TO THE CARS THAT THEY PRODUCED FOR
MERCEDES DECADES AFTER DECADES.>>THEY DID THAT DELIBERATELY.
RATHER THAN MAKING DISCONTINUOUS JUMPS IN DESIGN MAKING, ALL THE
VEHICLES THEY MAKE, BMW WHICH YOU HAD, ARE CAREFUL TO NEVER
LOSE THE FRONTS END IDENTITY. IT’S LIKE SACRED.
BUT YOU LOOK AT FOR INSTANCE, LINCOLN OVER THE LAST 15 YEARS,
IT’S ALL OVER THE MAP. THE LAST TEN YEARS, LINCOLN HAS
HAD FIVE DIFFERENT FRONT ENDS AND THAT’S A BIG MISTAKE.
YOU TRY TO ESTABLISH YOURSELF IN THE LUXURY
MARKET YOU HAVE TO HAVE THE CONSTANTSY OF APPEARANCE.
PEOPLE ARE CONSTANTLY REINFORCED THAT THIS IS
SOMETHING THAT LASTS.>>YOU LOOK AT THE MERCEDES AS
IT DRIVES AWAY, IT MAKES IT DIFFICULT TO TELL
FROM YEAR TO YEAR.>>YEAH, AND YOU CAN DO TOO
MUCH OF THAT, THERE’S NO INCENTIVE TO BUY THE NEW
ONE. YOU HAVE TO HAVE NOTICEABLE CHANGE BUT
MAINTAIN THE CHARACTER.>>>SPEAKING OF
LINCOLN, NEXT UP, 1966 LINCOLN CONTINENTAL MARK V.
>>MY LANDLORD HAD ONE, IT WAS PINK WITH WHITE HIGHLIGHTS,
AND IT IS WITHOUT QUESTION A COMPENDIUM OF STYLISH CLICHES,
INCLUDING THE BACK LIGHT. FORD WAS TRYING TO GET STARTED
AND IT NEVER WENT ANYWHERE. THIS WAS AT A TIME THAT CADILLAC
AND LINCOLN WERE VYING TO SEE WHO WAS THE LARGEST, HEAVIEST,
WIDEST, ET CETERA ET CETERA AND THIS WAS LINCOLN’S EFFORT TO
KIND OF OUT DO CADILLAC AND YOU KNOW, IT DIDN’T WORK.
AGAIN THE CAR IF YOU LOOK AT IT FROM THE FRONT AND
REAR, IT’S OVERBODIED. THE BODY IS WIDER THAN THE
CHASSIS, THAT’S A MISTAKE THAT WAS COMMONLY MADE BY
THE DESIGNERS IN THE 50’S, 60S, 70S, LOOK AT THE INTERIOR
DETAILING. IT’S BEAUTIFUL. LOOK HOW RICH THE INTERIOR LOOKS
WITH THE BRUSHED METAL EFFECTS.>>LET’S TAKE A CLOSER
LOOK. WITH ERIC GORGES WITH RANDY BOODEN.
>>WE HAVE A 1965 LINCOLN CONTINENTAL.
ONE OF THE BIGGEST SEDANS THEY’VE MADE.
>>IT IS A BIG CAR.>>IT’S A HUGE CAR.
WE HAD 12 PEOPLE IN IT ONE NIGHT.
ONE OF OUR CAR CLUB MEETINGS, IT WAS GREAT.
>>YOU’RE NOT HIDING THIS ONE.>>NO, YOU’RE NOT
HIDING IT ANYWHERE. THE DRIVING
OWNER’S NIGHTMARE CAR. YOU CAN GET TEN
BODIES IN THE TRUNK.>>HOW LONG HAVE YOU OWNED IT?
>>27 YEARS, MY DAD BOUGHT IT FROM THE ORIGINAL OWNER.
54,000 MILES. NOTHING IS TOUCHED OTHER THAN
IN 1962 IT GOT HIT IN THE LEFT REAR QUARTER PANEL.
OTHER THAN THAT, IT’S ALL ORIGINAL, IT’S A GREAT CAR, A
GREAT CRUISER. LOVE TO DRIVE IT DOWN THE
ROAD. MY DOING LOVED IT GRINNING FROM EAR TO YEAR.
>>THANKS FOR COMING OUT, ENJOY THE CRUISE.
>>I SURE WILL.>>FRED, WHAT’S
GOING ON NEXT, MAN?>>>ALL RIGHT, NEXT UP LET’S
LOOK AT THE 1988 TRABANT. YOU’RE WATCHING YOUR LIVE
COVERAGE OF THE DREAM CRUISE, HERE AT THE CORNER OF
NINE MILE AND [INAUDIBLE]. AT FERNDALE, ON DPTV, MUCH MORE
COMING UP, I’M JOINED STREET SIDE BY EXPERT BOB LUTZ.
AND BOB, THE NEXT CAR IS ONE I KNOW THAT JUMPS OUT AT YOU.
BILL TREIB, A TRABANT.>>THEY WERE HUGE POLLUTERS, NOT
FAST, AND THEY DID NOT HAVE THE AVAILABILITY OF THE STEEL,
THEY WERE MADE ENTIRELY OUT OF HAND LAY FIBERGLASS.
YOU COULD WIN BAR BETS, WHAT WAS THE HIGHEST VALUE FIBERGLASS
CAR EVER, MOST WOULD SAY THE CORVETTE, NOT TRUE.
IT’S THE TRABANT. 1988, LOOK AT WHAT WE WERE
DRIVING IN THE U.S. IN 1988, AND LOOK WHAT THE EAST GERMAN
COMMONIST WAS PRODUCING.>>LET’S LEARN MORE OF THIS ONE,
THE 1988 TRABANT. ERIC GORGES WITH BILL
TREIB OVER TO YOU.>>HOW ARE YOU?
>>HI THERE.>>NICE TO MEET YOU.
TELL ME ABOUT YOUR CAR.>>AN EAST GERMAN TRABANT.
IT’S A COMMUNIST CAR.>>HOW LONG HAVE YOU HAD IT?
>>A YEAR. THEY BUILT THEM
FROM 1963 TO 1991.>>WHERE DID YOU FIND IT?
>>I BOUGHT IT IN BERLIN.>>EASY TO FIND?
>>THEY’RE ALL OVER THE PLACE, GERMANY BUILT 3 MILLION OF
THEM. EVERYONE HAD ONE.>>WHAT’S QUIRKY AND
SPECIAL ABOUT THIS?>>IT’S WEIRD BECAUSE IT HAS
A PLASTIC BODY, SO IT’S ADVANCED FOR ITS TIME.
A TWO STROKE ENGINE.>>WHAT ABOUT THE GAS GAUGE?
>>YEAH, SO EVERYTHING IS REALLY SIMPLE ON THIS CAR.
THAT’S THE GAS GAUGE. THE STICK, DIP YOUR STICK IN
THERE, AND TELL YOU HOW MANY METERS ARE IN IT.
>>IT’S PRETTY MUCH, START RUNNING OUT OF GAS,
YOU HAVE A RESERVE VALVE. LIKE AN MOPED.
>>THANKS FOR COMING OUT. FRED, WHAT’S NEXT?
>>THE 1988 TRABANT, IT’S JUST — IT FITS IN THE HISTORY.
WE TALK ABOUT THE WALL COMING DOWN.
>>AFTER THAT A LOT OF WEST GERMANS BOUGHT THEM TO
DISPLAY ON THE LAWN OR MAKE BIRDBATHS OUT OF THEM.
BUT IT’S VERY RARE THAT ANY OF THEM ARE STILL DRIVEN.
AND OF COURSE, THEY’RE STILL SUPER NONCOMPLIANT FROM AN
EMISSION STANDPOINT.>>YOU’RE WATCHING OUR
LIVE COVERAGE OF DPTV DREAM CRUISE ROAD SHOW,
DPTV.ORG, AND LIVE ON 56.1. STREET SIDE NINE MILE AND
WOODWARD IN BEAUTIFUL DOWNTOWN FERNDALE.
I’M JOINED WITH BOB LUTZ, OUR AUTOMOTIVE EXPERT AND NEXT ONE
UP, IS 1968 CHRYSLER 300. THIS IS A BEAUTIFUL CLASSIC CAR.
>>IT’S NICE, IT’S TO THE EPISODE OF THE — END OF
THE 300S, THE THIRD GENERATION OF BODY STYLE.
THE FIRST GENERATION WAS VERY EUROPEAN LOOKING.
THE SECOND GENERATION HAD THE HUGE ENORMOUS TAIL
FINS, AND THIS IS THE THIRD GENERATION IN AN ENTIRELY
DIFFERENT STYLING DIRECTION. I DON’T THINK THIS CAR DID
AS WELL IN THE MARKETPLACE AS THE EARLIER 300S.
WHICH MAKES IT ALL THE MORE INTERESTING NOW.
AND THERE’S NO QUESTION THAT IT’S A VERY FAST CAR.
AND VERY VERY INTERESTING VERY INTERESTING PART OF MOPAR HIGH
PERFORMANCE HISTORY.>>LET’S HEAR MORE ABOUT IT FROM
[INAUDIBLE] WITH ERIC GORGES.>>HEY MAN, HOW ARE YOU?
>>GOOD.>>WHAT HAVE WE GOT HERE?
>>A 1968 CHRYSLER 300. A 440 CUBIC INCH ENGINE.
>>HOW LONG HAVE YOU HAD IT?>>2001.
>>A NICE AMOUNT OF TIME, WAS IT HARD TO FIND?
>>NOT ACTUALLY, I WAS ON MY WAY BACK FROM DETROIT, AND MY WIFE
SAID, LOOK AT THAT OLD CAR, AND I’M LIKE, THAT’S A YACHT.
IT IS A TWO DOOR, AND WE JUMPED IN AND TOOK IT FOR A RIDE
AND FELL IN LOVE WITH IT.>>WHAT DO YOU LOVE ABOUT IT?
>>I LIKE THE STYLE, THE BACK END TIES IN
WITH THE FRONT END. THE DIFFERENT HEADLIGHTS,
AND THE COLOR DETAIL THAT BROUGHT THE CHROME TO LIFE.
>>I NOTICE THE PINSTRIPING.>>I GREW UP NEXT TO A FAMOUS
PINSTRIPER, AND HE JUST DID THAT A COUPLE OF WEEKS AGO.
>>ANY REASON YOU DID RED, WHITE AND BLUE?
>>I WANTED TO EXTEND IT ON — EVERY YEAR THEY’VE HAD A
RED, WHITE AND BLUE THEME ON SOME PART OF THE CAR.
I DECIDED TO EXTEND THAT.>>VERY NICE.
WHEN YOU GOT THIS, WHAT KIND OF CONDITION WAS IT IN?
>>IT WAS ROUGH, BUT IT NEEDED MECHANICAL WORK.
NEEDS CLEANING UP.>>SO JUST OVER TIME
OR SOMETHING YOU TACKLED RIGHT AWAY?
>>QUIT A BIT OF IT RIGHT AWAY. AND OVER TIME, GONE IN A
DISREPAIR AND I BROUGHT IT BACK.>>THIS IS SOMETHING YOU
DRIVE ALL THE TIME.>>YES, NO TRAILER QUEEN.
>>THIS IS AWESOME, HAVE YOU FOR COMING OUT.
>>THANK YOU.>>ALL RIGHT, FRED.
I THINK THAT’S IT. BACK TO YOU.
>>>WELL THAT WAS A 1968 CHRYSLER 300, WE WRAP THINGS UP
HERE, LOOKS LIKE THE LOVE FOR CLASSIC CARS IS ALIVE AND
WELL IN THE MOTOR CITY AND ACROSS THE COUNTRY.
>>I CERTAINLY HOPE SO. A HERITAGE WORTH PRESERVING.
>>AND NO QUESTION ABOUT THAT, WE GATHER HERE GREAT THANKS
TO THE CITY OF FERNDALE FOR HOSTING US HERE.
THIS IS JUST A LOOK AT DETROIT’S DESIGN, ART AND CULTURE.
SOMETHING OF THE FABRIC OF THE CITY THAT WE LIKE TO CELEBRATE
HERE IN DETROIT AS PARTS OF OUR STORY TELLING IN ALL THINGS
GREAT IN MOTOR CITY. ON BEHALF OF BOB LUTZ AND ERIC
GORGES, THE ENTIRE CREW HERE AT DETROIT PUBLIC TV, I’M FRED
